Size
They are extremely small snakes usually growing up to 50-60cm long.
Venom
It is a mildly venomous colubrid snake species although their mild venom is used more as a means of relaxing the preys body, helping the snake to subdue it rather than killing it. They do not have enough venom to kill a human and there has never been a fatal bite.
Habitat
They can be found in a variety of habitats including rocky terrain, woodlands, and even beaches usually with some scrub or bush vegetation.
Diet
They mainly feed on small geckos and lizards, but they eat also small mammals and even birds, younger snakes will also eat invertebrates.
Breeding
The females lay eggs in clutches ranging from 5 to 9 eggs. The eggs usually hatch in late summer or early autumn.
