Size
They are the smallest snake species in Bulgaria usually growing up to 30 cm long, but can very rarely reach 40-50 cm
Venom
They are a non-venomous species and don't bite.
Habitat
The European Worm Snake is one of the hardest snakes to find in Bulgaria as it lives in the soil. The only time you might be able to see them is under rocks when they are mating, around May.
Diet
They mainly feed on ants, although will also eat other invertebrates.
Breeding
They breed in May and will be found under rocks whilst mating. Females lay 4-8 eggs per clutch.
